Channel 4 News fails to challenge anti-Israel lies by Congresswoman-Elect Rashida Tlaib

On Nov. 1st, Rashida Tlaib, who ran unopposed in her race to represent Michigan’s 17th district, become the nation’s first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress. Tlaib, whose mother was born in Ramallah, was initially endorsed by the far-left group J Street until, during media interviews conducted during the campaign, she contradicted her initial support for a two-state solution and came out instead for the Palestinian ‘right of return’ and a one-state solution.  As Ron Kampeas of JTA observed, when it comes to the one-state solution, Tlaib is even an outlier among the other two women elected to Congress on Nov. 1 with whom she is most frequently grouped, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.  Like…

    80th Anniversary of Kristallnacht

Tonight we commemorate the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the “night of broken glass”. That night, 9 November 1938, Nazi fury broke out against Jews throughout Germany and Austria — 92 were killed; 30,000 were seized and sent to concentration camps; 7,500 Jewish businesses were set on fire and destroyed. It was the most ominous sign of what was to come. But it had another dimension no less terrifying: 267 synagogues were burnt. Thousands of Torah scrolls, Judaism’s most sacred objects, were desecrated and thrown into the flames. Suddenly it became clear that the Nazis were intent not only on killing Jews. They sought to kill Judaism itself. They failed. The…

Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s New Golden Girl Thinks White Helmets a Conspiracy and IDF Funds ISIS

This weekend the Palestine Solidarity Campaign is holding a conference against Apartheid organised by a new staff member called Huda Ammori. Huda’s shared some interesting stuff on her Facebook. She shared a post referring to “3 Palestinian youth who were killed and executed in cold blood by the Zionists forces today in Jerusalem city.” In fact they were killed while carrying out a stabbing and shooting attack in Jerusalem where they killed one police officer and wounded six others. A knife is clearly visible in one photo and even Palestinian media reported that it was a terror attack (see below). The Palestine Information Centre reported: “Three Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli…

Palestinian Chiefs Torture their own Citizens

This is a cross post from The Zionist I often think about how hard it must be for Palestinians. On the one hand they have Israel’s security measures on the other they know a much harsher regime awaits were the IDF to leave the West Bank. With a dictatorship in waiting in the form of the Palestinian Authority and an Islamo-Fascist dictatorship as their Hamas opposition no one who understands the region can argue Palestinians will end up living in a democracy regardless of how things pan out with Israel. And now Human Rights Watch have released a report claiming the obvious; there is widespread use of torture by both the Palestinians…

The Guardian’s Steve Bell demonises Zionists, smears Rabbi Sacks and exonerates Jeremy Corbyn

This is a cross-post by Adam Levick from UK Media Watch The first thing you need to know about a recent cartoon by the Guardian’s Steve Bell (Donald Trump fires Jeremy Corbyn for rejecting his moral authority, Sept. 6) is that, despite the title, and likeness of the US president, Trump is partly a stand-in for another personality, former British Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. A clue to this graphic trick is found in the first frame, where Bell references Trump’s former role as host of the US television show, The Apprentice, but changes the network from NBC to BBC Radio 4, and the name of the show to ‘Apprentice Morality…

QC says Israel created ‘to compensate for the Holocaust’

This is a cross-post by Jonathan Hoffman It was at an event organised by the Palestine Return Centre in 2013 that Jeremy Corbyn suggested that Zionists “having lived in this country for a very long time, probably all their lives … don’t understand English irony”. I have never attended a PRC event where antisemitism has not run free. It was at a PRC event where Gerald Kaufman referred to ‘Jewish money‘ and at another where Jenny Tonge placed herself on the path to resignation/dismissal.  The former spokesman of the PRC, Sameh Habeeb, was dropped as a Labour council candidate earlier this year and suspended from the Party for alleged antisemitic remarks. Now…

The Jewish Exodus which Corbyn ignores

This is a cross post by Lyn Julius from the Jewish Chronicle Hardly a day goes by without another shocking revelation of Jeremy Corbyn’s association with antisemites. But while most of us recoil at Corbyn’s documented support for his “friends” Hamas and Hezbollah, his appearances on the Iranian-funded Press TV, and his tribute to the perpetrators of the Munich massacre, little has been said about the intellectual underpinnings of the ideological world-view that Corbyn has clung to for 40 years. It is time that they were debunked from a Sephardi or Mizrahi perspective. I doubt whether Corbyn has heard of Mizrahi or Sephardi Jews. Did he know that 850,000 Jewish…

    In praise of Richard Millett!

This is a cross-post from UK Media Watch In 2012, blogger Richard Millett was attending a SOAS Palestine Society event in London and was called “a typical Israeli” by a pro-Palestinian attendee who objected to his filming of the event. Millett is not Israeli. He’s a British Jew whose family has been in the UK for nearly 150 years. He also routinely defends Jews and Israel with first person reports published at his blog – posts which include audio and video recorded while monitoring events featuring groups and activists (and sometimes even MPs) hostile to Israel’s existence and, at times, openly hostile to Jews. Moreover, If you’re wondering whether the charge hurled at Richard was racist,…

Are Guardian columnist Owen Jones’ views on Israel and Hamas shaped by “racism = prejudice + power”?

This is a cross-post by Adam Levick from UK Media Watch Jeremy Corbyn supporter Owen Jones took to the pages of the Guardian on Friday to argue that the UK is complicit in the killing of Palestinian civilians by the IDF by virtue of the country’s arms sales to Israel and, in so doing, provided a good example of the convoluted moral logic used by the radical left to obfuscate Hamas’s role in perpetuating the conflict. Though most of his op-ed focuses on UK ties to Riyadh in light of a recent Saudi-led coalition airstrike that hit a bus in Yemen’s Houthi rebel-held north, killing 29 children, he weaves in Israel…

NEC antisemitism code: IHRA ibergezetst un farbesert?

Guest post by Amie In the heyday of Yiddish theatre in New York, Translations of Shakespeare into Yiddish were sometimes inscribed with the phrase: “Translated and improved.” The Yivo archive says that ‘The phrase inevitably meant that the play was translated and not improved upon. In fact, it was probably translated and rendered worse, sometimes egregiously worse, than the original”. While we may view this kind of chutzpah with a nostalgic wry smile, no smiles for Formby et al (hereinafter called the NECards) for their disingenuous claim that the NEC code is an improvement on the IHRA;  this  is a presumption and a malignity beyond chutzpah. This attitude reached its…
