Richard Millett has uncovered this video from last January of the ex-Independent blogger Jody McIntyre encouraging people to set London ‘alight’. His preferred venue for such an insane and reckless remark? Why, a Palestine Solidarity Campaign conference, naturally!
“I say this at a time when people across the Arab world are setting alight to themselves in protest against their governments. We must take inspiration from them this year when we set the streets of London alight.”
Except that the Egyptians cleaned up after themselves and didn’t raid people’s homes, forcing immigrant women to jump from burning buildings. In fact, Egyptian protestor Mosa’ab Elshamy tweeted today: “Egyptians and Tunisians took revenge for Khaled Said and Bouazizi by peacefully toppling their murdering regimes, not stealing DVD players.”
Here’s the video. And note how PSC Director Sarah Colborne applauds McIntyre’s witlessness, along with PSC chairman Hugh Lanning and rapper Lowkey. This must be the first time that a pro-Hamas organisation in Britain has championed a man who encourages riots.
Update: here is a clip of the “set the streets of London alight” quote.
And here are some of McIntyre’s tweets on the topic of arson.
