"Can we please please please have a guest post from billaricaydickey on this business in the East End?
BD – would you be willing to do one?"

I hope this suggestion will be acted upon. 'billaricaydickey' can I just ask, politely, if you can give as much detail as possible? Facts are what are needed. Well done in the meantime.

Looks like HP are still trying to get over David T's humiliating himself in front of Begg and the audience. Its hilarious. Hence such desperate posts.

"Shamnesty is institutionally committed to the position that India is illegally occupying Kashmir."

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,977469,00.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sopore_massacre
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zakoora_And_Tengpora_Massacre,_1990
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gawakadal_massacre

So you don't think the systematic use of extra-judicial killing, torture and collective punishment for well over a decade by the Indian army and security forces warrants that position?

Or perhaps you mean that because atrocities were committed by both sides (though overwhelmingly by the Indian army, an occupying power Kashmiris initially rose up peacefully to eject) Amnesty should throw its hands up in the air and say 'well we'd better let you get on with it'?

Another thing - Islamist infilitration and radicalisation happened AFTER India violently suppressed the pretty much peaceful Kashmiri nationalist movement, after it finished rigging state elections in 1987 to keep them out of power. But of course, don't let that stop you using Kashmir as another plank in the 'Amnesty as terrorist-enablers' spiel.

Have a look at The Religious and Racial Hatred Act (2006) http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?activeTextDocId=2320532

Specifically look at the sections on the transmission of recordings and holding of material which contravene the Act.

Why are there so FEW prosecutions?

Its a mot point whether HP showing hate material via YouTube technically breaches the Act - although we all understand that the context is one of exposure. (Why isn't MPAC UK prosecuted for their website content?)

"People have concentrated on places like Birmingham and the Tipton Taliban for far too long to the exclusion of the East End. It is here that there is a real possibility of IFE extending the power that it already has."

That's because Londoners were/still are so up themselves with their "we are so sophisticated and multicultural compared to all those dirty northern/provincial monkeys" mantra. It took a couple of bombs to (very temporarily) shatter that illusion.

Can we please please please have a guest post from billaricaydickey on this business in the East End?

From billaricaydickey I get a nagging feeling of unease that something of which I/we have zero awareness but with huge consequences is inexorably moving towards a tipping point in the East End. We should not sleepwalk past such a defining moment as we did with Rushdie. So please keep this issue to the fore BD.

Lucy Lips: They believe that this just war theory of jihad is legal under international law, and that if only ‘the West’ were to accept its legitimacy, then..

Listen to this excellent challenge yesterday by Gita Sahgal to Asim Qureshi, the director of Cageprioners in this BBC World service item. At around 3.25 in response to a question about supporting violent jihad, he explains that under international law there is a right to self determination. She retorts that the same Convention outlaws attacks on civilians, and asks him if this (i.e his whitewashing explanation of jihad) is what he meant in his statements at a HT rally on youtube. He said, yes, it was. Wasn't clear which youtube clip she meant, but she was implying his statement there were at odds with such an interpretation.
The whole interview is well worth hearing.
