Colin:

Funny that MPACUK would merit the description "human rights organization", whereas I expect the BBC would be inclined to describe B'nai Brith, the ADL, AIPAC and other Jewish organizations as Jewish or pro-Israel pressure groups.

Begg presents these people all as victims, as if they have been jailed simply for being devout Muslims. It’s clear he considers not just Guantanamo detainees but also convicted Muslim terrorists to be fundamentally hard done to. Others whom the site has advocated include that inspiration to terrorists, Alwaki.

It appears that preventing an pious jihadist from blowing up innocent civilians is an afront to their basic human rights and dignity.

Begg is your typical Islamist, an immature, narcissistic supremacist, utterly incapable of empathy towards his fellow human beings.

If these men are guilty why have they not been prosecuted.

A large number of those whom Begg's organisation presents as 'caged prisoners' have indeed been convicted of terrorism and are in British jails as a result.

Caged Prisoners is clearly not a human rights organisation, it uses Guantanamo as a front for drumming up support for the Islamist cause generally.

Islamism is inherently hostile to the notion of universal human rights, which is what Amnesty used to stand for. Amnesty has erred badly in striking up a partnership with an ideology so committed to removing existing human rights from those who are not Muslim males (and even rights from many of those).

It is surely wrong to detain anyone without a trial or evidence.
If these men are guilty why have they not been prosecuted.

Good, so you agree with Sahgal.

Who's Alex?

This is off point and has little to do directly with Ms Sahgal's standoff with AI but her mother was the well known writer Nayantara Sahgal, niece of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's illustrious first Prime Minister. Some Indian blogs and newspapers have picked up this story and were quick to make this family connection. I think that it is wholly to her credit that Gita Sahgal never played up her family background.

I normally agree with David A and the point he makes at the end is a good one.
Although I would say look at the Amnesty website and see how many campaigns it is waging against Islamic regimes.
Alex you just hate every one who isn't a white tory.

I’ve written them more than once for choosing to describe MPACUK as human rights activists

Yeah, one of the reasons why I always liked Amnesty International was that they appeared to have a genuinely universalist approach to human rights. They'd argue that torture is wrong no matter who did it or where in the world it was done. No ifs and buts. No cultural exceptions. No "what they get up to is their business" crap.

At least, I didn't think Amnesty behaved that way.

But CagePrisoners are essentially "I want my rights" groups. They're not concerned about anyone but their exclusive set.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has heard BBC presenters referring to Caged Prisoners as a human rights organisation? In recent years. I've written them more than once for choosing to describe MPACUK as human rights activists - a degradation of the title that harms the interests of those to whom it really belongs - another example of Islamist empoisonment..
