Please note that my earlier comments were not intended to cast doubt upon whether a problem exists, it clearly does. My aim was to ensure we didn’t get hoodwinked by the two tableaux set together in one video, in case the clergyman in the first scene turned out to be unrelated to the anti-semitic vandals in the second. That could have made us look silly.

I certainly looks like a blighted place, with bored depressed people unable to drum up much enthusiasm even for anti-semitic desecration so deep is their gloom.

They obviously need more things to do and look like they would even jump at the chance of making things for a ‘Winterval’ festival out of raffia.

We should get Barnet or Bradford or some other local authority to start an outreach campaign, at least donate this years left over raffia, those poor kids need something to cheer them up.

I Kishinev they are closing the gap with the West, coming closer and closer to London. Today only a small fringe, tomorrow they will rant about Jewish power in their TV (Channel Four?) programs, in the local public broadcasts (BBC?) in their mainstream media (Guardian, Independent, New Statesman?), and in their trade unions (UCU?). You can’t stop their progress towards the British values.

I also thought: what an impressive and elegant and attractive menorah; the one put up for Hannukah in the town in which I live is really rather ugly and angular (even if it possibly harmonizes with the partially art-deco style of the theatre alongside, it is far too much of the 20th century).

I didn’t see any trashing, looked more like a symbolic dismantling. Of course, it was probably a crime of some sort.

It really saddens me though. Truly.

What hope do we have of a tolerant society where childish abusive actions are the high point of exultation? It is up there with burning Bibles, smearing Korans with bacon rashers, and so forth.

Of course, it is not just the ‘religious’ who think it amusing to upset others by desecrating ‘religious’ symbols and books.

I’m going to crawl back under my rock for the duration.
