This was a town/gown class based attack not a racist one. Local yobs attacking City Uni students who are ‘foreign’ in every way – rich, educated, international and going places. If it was a racist attack they would be much more likely to target students of the nearby FE college who are overwhelmingly black and asian but also overwhelmingly Londoners of working class backgrounds. Where does that leave the Leninists?

Reading Michael Rosen’s obituary of Chris Harman, a man who had all the advantages in early life but then wasted them by spending decades editing Socialist Worker, writing books nobody read and preparing new editions of Marx (ditto) all I could think of was what a difference he could have made to the lives of people less advantaged of himself had he actually got involved with communities and education rather than lecturing from an ivory tower in the hope of becoming part of a new Marxist elite.

If our aim is to protect all the people in our society from race based harassment, violence, and discrimination, then we need to face up to the fact that there is hostility between the racial and sectarian minorities in this country. The notion that only whites can be racist is a dangerous nonsense, which leaves very many people without any official recognition of their plight, or any practical help.

President Chavez wants the country to believe that a rogue Metropolitan Police corporal who allegedly worked four years as the Rabbi’s security escort organized over a dozen cops from three police agencies and civilian professional criminals to break into a synagogue and steal…only two used computers worth, at most, Bs.F. 2,000 – less than $500 at the black market exchange rate?

Let’s see, $500 split 15 ways is $33.33 for each of the attackers. Street urchins juggling lemons at traffic intersections can earn that much on a good day.

And President Chavez wants the country to believe that a professional cop, who supposedly knows a thing or two about crime and reportedly had detailed knowledge of the Synagogue’s interior layout, would enlist 14 other people as allies (and certain squealers) in a heist the cop could have pulled off by himself or with one associate to provide some backup?

On the contrary, pretty conclusive evidence, Matty.
