I do not suggest people cannot reform themselves merely that certain work must be open only to people who do not have ‘form’. They can certainly be interviewed and questioned as part of building up a policy or informing a view, but here we read of people who are being offered paid work and worse perhaps, a clearance and ability to move within government. So, am I to understand a person with a record of extreme views is able to stroll into restricted premises with impunity? Quite apart from the clear security implications, the endorsement gives its own power, a power which having changed once might choose to change again.
