It may never be completed, as the communist government of West Bengal doesn’t want it. (They need the Muslim illegals infiltrated from Bangladesh to pad their vote banks. The end result of the demographic disaster wrought over the past four decades by the Left Front in West Bengal, and by other unsavory collections of leftists in Assam, is not too far off: civil war, Muslims against everyone else.)

And much of the article by Shiraz Maher talks precisely about barriers between sovereign states (Saudi Arabia with Yemen and Iraq, Iran with Pakistan etc.)

He forgets that in the period in question, the 1980s, many of them were fleeing from a war – a war waged by the apartheid regime against Mozambique via its surrogate army, Renamo.

Others, of course, were looking for a job – just as Mexicans cross illegally into the US seeking work. Across the globe richer countries act as magnets attracting people from poorer countries.

Is it a decent immigration policy to fry them on an electrified fence? The current South African government does not allow unrestricted immigration either – but it merely arrests and deports illegal migrants, it doesn’t kill them as they cross the border.

As for Comstock, I’m afraid I don’t see how I can be both “100 per cent true” and “criminally misleading”.
