The headline is really stunning but it was manifested as an ill motive one rather than being as much informative as it was supposed to be because of the evidence to make Mr Uddin accused of war crime during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 was simply fragile and baseless. Delwar Hussain, the writer in the Guardian on 7 October, just put some commonly known chronological incidents that helped him to make his writing a one-page story – this is all he did to make someone a war crime! Later on the Guardian was gagged for the imbecility on their part and put a footnote saying: On 13 October this article was changed following a legal complaint.
I think, astonishing although, the great beneficiary of this 38- year-old saga is the Awami League(AL) itself, who will never let this issue be solved lest it should pull down its colourful manifesto to the abyss of failure in the electoral process of this party in power of Bangladesh government. It was simply fabricated to harass the political rivals of the AL and its allies.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I am very pleased to be here, which is all Mr Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin’s fault! He kept saying to me that I must come and see the Foundation at Markfield and here I am at last.

A little over a year ago, Mr Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin welcomed Prince Muhammad Al-Faisal and me to East London Mosque with the remark that royal princes are like London buses: you wait for ages for one to come along, then two turn up at once. All I can say is that this particular one has been very much looking forward to this visit here today."

Please may I urge people to reflect for a moment on the history informing this news item and not only on its implications for press freedom in the UK?

For a moment’s reflection on the matter demonstrates the unreality of the Cold War-era narrative that this website appears to favour (or so it appears to a new visitor) and helps to explains why this narrative has no currency among the majority of the world’s population.

The genocide conducted by the Pakistan Army and its local allies in Bangladesh was, arguably, the worst genocide of the twentieth century excepting the Holocaust – certainly, it was one of the worst. And there is no question that it was genocide: a deliberate and systematic attempt to eliminate the male Hindu population alongside the attempt to crush the Awami League and all other elements of the independence movement.

From beginning to end, the genociders enjoyed the support of the Nixon Administration and right-wing opinion in the US; the victims of the genocide were supported by India, the USSR and its allies, and left-wing opinion in the US, with Senator Kennedy playing an especially notable role.

Much the same pattern can be detected in almost every instance of genocide from 1945 until the demise of the USSR. For example: the Indonesian Army against “Communists” in 1965 (principally: the ethnic Chinese and Hindu Balinese minorities); the Indonesian Army against the East Timorese in 1975 and following; the Khmer Rouge regime against the Vietnamese minority as well as the Cambodian majority in 1975 and following; the Afghan head-choppers (“freedom-fighters” in the language of President Reagan) against the Hazara minority as well as all secular Afghans, before, during and after the period of secular rule that ended in 1992.

In each of these cases, the genociders were supported by the incumbent US Administration to a greater or lesser degree, and aggressively so by right-wing opinion in the West; the victims looked to support from India, the USSR and its allies, and left-wing opinion in the West.

This is not to deny that Soviet foreign policy was, from beginning to end, inconsistent and opportunistic. Nor is it to suggest that the best instances of its foreign policy can excuse its illiberal domestic policies. The point, however, is that a narrative in which the US and the West were always the “good guys” and the Soviets were always the “bad guys” is belied by the historical record. From the perspective of a secular, moderate, centre-left or centre-right citizen of Bangladesh or Indonesia (or countless other countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America), such a narrative is nonsense.

That the US has now turned its fire on its former allies in Afghanistan is much to be welcomed. But the world has not forgotten the long-standing alliance between the US, the Pakistan Army and the Afghan head-choppers, an alliance which brought about an end to secular rule in Afghanistan and the beginning of the road to 9/11. If US foreign policy today is worthy of support, it is precisely because it represents a break from its Cold War past.

It is about time that we had such a libel Terrorism Protection Act in the UK. The UK has become the haven of such people, our laws do not protect us and are abused by people who in their own countries are terrorists. Asylum seekers should not be criminals in their own countries, nor have criminal indictments against them. How did such a man become "spiritually " employed by the NHS?

Unfortunately this is one man among many. And this is one of the reasons the BNP gets a hearing, most British are sick of this stuff and no one does anything about it, and they use it. Where are the moderates? Human Rights issues are abused and used and where is the balance?, we want to protect those truly in need of protection not those fleeing their evil deeds.

Is this the same Gaurdian that only days ago admitted that it had published inacurate details of previous Nobel Peace Prize winners due to incompetent data copying practices. As most here seem to say - 'Publish and be damned', would be true course (if you believe in your own credibility that is)

You don't like Jews HH do you, what's a matter, did a Jew steal your dummy when you were a baby?

You say your not on the left, you say your not on the right and your too stupid to be an Islamist, even they try to disguise their Jew hatred by using semantic sedatives, no you are in a different class altogether, you are one of those who "hate because they want to" assholes, if it wasn't the Jews anyone would do, because that's your thing, yes indeed, probably spent your whole life regretting Adolf didn't get the job finished or that Stalin didn't kill nearly a many as he could and I bet you think Mao was a pussy for stopping at 70 million.

I believe you are one of those "little men", the little ones who just can't stand being little, never mind though I am sure Platform Shoes will make a comeback one day, one day you may well realize your dream, then again maybe not, because a hate filled Jew hating asshole will always be a hate filled Jew hating asshole, nothing can change that, nothing will ever change that because the fault dear Hotspur is not in your stars but in your mind.

Goodbye little man.
