This is unmitigated bullshit. You may have turned to the Right, but that doesn’t give you the right to defame those of us who have stayed true to our principles.

Lol, the point is that you betrayed every important principle that liberals ever had. The current left is shit that stands for nothing it used to.

She said - this was back in the days of the Arafat-Sharon stalemate - that the US possibly should impose that settlement if that parties couldn’t do it. Given that the hypothetical Palestinian state is not in Israel, putting a peace-keeping force in has nothing to do with “invading Israel”. And anyone who thinks that a peace-keeping force would not be required while a Palestinian state was established is naive. So I don’t think the twist from what she actually said to “advocated an invasion of Israel” was an accidental misunderstanding. It was a deliberate distortion for partisan purposes.

I appreciate the attempt to address Power's record, but that is an extremely forced and not particularly coherent understanding of her remarks (Did you watch the video?).

Indeed, it could result only from a preinclination for coming out with an interpretation in which Power comes out looking reasonable.

Repeatedly we are seeing attempts to defend the likes of Power, HRW etc. by giving them the benefit of the doubt and placing a tremendous burden of proof on those who believe they are biased, naive, or sympathetic to extremists.

I'm not sure why the media doesn't care that Samantha Power advocated invading Israel. But it might be because she's never advocated invading Israel.

I looked at Kramer's piece. But then I looked at what Power actually said: answering a hypothetical at a university forum in 2002, she talked about investing in the establishment of a Palestinian state, as was then and still is US foreign policy, and committing a "massive protection force" as part of that investment. She said - this was back in the days of the Arafat-Sharon stalemate - that the US possibly should impose that settlement if that parties couldn't do it. Given that the hypothetical Palestinian state is not in Israel, putting a peace-keeping force in has nothing to do with "invading Israel". And anyone who thinks that a peace-keeping force would not be required while a Palestinian state was established is naive. So I don't think the twist from what she actually said to "advocated an invasion of Israel" was an accidental misunderstanding. It was a deliberate distortion for partisan purposes.

It's not a tactic that actually works, or that even gets people's attention much any more. If the Birthers are the anti-Obama equivalent of the Truthers, the closest parallel to this sort of thing is the anti-Bush plastic turkey story.

Partisan hacks loved it and thought it was a telling point. Most people didn't care. Anyone who bothered to check found that what the hacks were saying wasn't even true. So the partisans made themselves less credible, while wondering why it wasn't gaining them any political traction.

Three years is a long time in politics, but right now Obama must be feeling pretty good. He's doing better, at this stage in his first term, than either Clinton or Reagan were, and he's currently trending up. Approval risen from 51 to 54% in the last week. Check Gallup.

His opponents are idiots, and show no sign of learning from their mistakes. Did the angry mobs help Obama politically? You betcha. The Republican crazy-right, who seem to be running the party, may drop the nonsense and use smarter tactics, or the moderates may wake up and reign them in, but I doubt it'll be soon.

What your seeing is how offended the conservative half of America is that the non-conservative half is getting their turn in government. As you can see they're totally enraged.

I hope they keep losing long enough to grow the fuck up, but I suppose the left didn't grow no matter how many years of republican administrations we had.

"hat the Obama Administration will end in tyranny"

It will end in a republican landslide. Probably even another Reagan like populist president a la Sarah Palin (or similar).
Not tyranny as long as those who raise the warning signs are not labeled as inciters, racists and fanatics. The problem is that the media has now dug itself so deep in the ass of Obama, coming out will only show how super brown their nose has become. So to avoid that, they adopted the tactic that the opposition is merely a series of news events and not actual public opinion.

As much as my deeply conservative innards tell me that the Obama Administration will end in tyranny, had the above article not been pulled, I would have welcomed a visit to the author's home by FBI agents to have a cosy chat about the meaning of treason. The same should have happened to Michael Moore under Bush.

"those in the right wing media who are trying to incite Americans against each other by convincing their audience that the left in general and Obama in particular are mad, anti-American, Marxist etc. etc."

Inciting how?

Should they keep info suppressed ?
The media s job is to investigate and watch those in power.
Unfortunately, Obama has changed much of the media into an advocacy of his personality cult.
Corruption is corruption. Obama has come out of the gate with a lot of skeletons, most of which should have come out during the campaign. They didn't so now these things are surfacing.
