Obama has the best chance because there are 60 Dems in the Senate

Fifty-nine, pro tem.

One point about the whole moonbattery about Obama is that if his critics go way over the top and you can discredit the truly mad stuff then it implies that all statements about Obama have to also be false

There's still stuff around on the web telling you the Millennium Bug is a conspiracy cooked up by the Clinton administration to control us all through our computers. Like the SWP, these guys never apologize, never explain, they just move on to the next piece of lunacy.

I like imagining that Glen is singing this. Actually, lyrics might make too much sense...

But for the record, I think anyone who talks about subliminal messages is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

Cindy Sheehan could have been elected President against the Republicans.

But Obama's real campaign was against Hillary. "Change you can Xerox" was the most memorable (for me) line of the whole election.

Just thought I'd relay the latest Beck/Limbaugh claim - derived from Alex Jones - that Obama will have some devastating attack on a city staged as an opportunity to enforce some draconian laws and divert attention from his performance. (Well, Obama or those who control him according to Jones)

I mention it as the height of moonbattery while reserving a "how did they predict that" caveat.

However, it does seem true that if a bill passes congress then the govt will be able to seize parts of the internet in a crisis http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/obama_seize_internet_bill/2009/08/28/253692.html. Jones uses that as "See, they are preparing the laws for controlling the dissemination of news and protest"

One point about the whole moonbattery about Obama is that if his critics go way over the top and you can discredit the truly mad stuff then it implies that all statements about Obama have to also be false. Denial strategy will pick the easiest to discredit. Some moonbattery sometimes has an element of truth. like the Internet control bill.

I'll give you an example:- Alex Jones has been saying for months that the govt. vaccination plan is a way of culling people and giving them something far worse than swine flu. To substantiate his claim he referred to a Daily Mail item about kids getting sick after taking swine flu medicine and one person berating a health minister for nearly killing their child with the vaccine. There are other documented cases of bad stuff getting into other flu vaccines (Jones would say deliberate) and it killed a number of people it was tested on (somewhere in Europe). "See its true says Jones".

Its the opposite strategy. Take a BIG suggestion and use small truths to make it seem real.

Take a BIG suggestion and find some small untruths and make it false.

Its actually a fascinating dynamic from both sides. Truth vs Perception.

morgoth if it is then I'm gonna reread it, obsessively

Benji of course ignores all of Pilger's bitter denunciations of Obama for not abandoning the Iraqis immediately and completely. The more helpless, oppressed the Iraqis, the more slaughtered, the more plagued by violence in the future, the better apparently.

By the way, I read all of those books on Ericksonian hypnosis when I was a kid

Is Ericksonian hypnosis that thing where you persuade hot-looking women with legs up to their armpits to sleep with you despite the fact you're a gray-haired balding Swede with an obsessive interest in football management?

RE: Of course, John Pilger is hate figure here, but if you actually listen to the actual content of what he has to say (unlikely), it is a good antidote to the more liberal delusions about Obama and what he can do, even if he wants to.

Benjamin, your comment would do pilger proud, he's also fond of making out like he's the only guy in the room who "actually listens to the actual content of what [someone] has to say," which is another way of saying he has a superiority complex based on nothing else but his narcissism and self-absorption. s a narcissistic, self-absorbed, individual with a superiority complex.

As for liberal delusions about Obama: (1) as i recall, the repubs used to go on about how he had the most liberal voting record in the Senate; where's the delusion; and (2) yes, it's difficult to reform healthcare in the states because of the huge vested interests. Obama has the best chance because there are 60 Dems in the Senate and a majority in the House. Still, as Clinton found out, it's a tough thing to do, and this show is by no means over. Let's wait and see what the end result is in the healthcare debate before judging obama on it.

In the end, all Pilger seems to be saying is that Obama isn't as [progressive, left, whatever] as he would like, which, in my opinion, is a damn good thing.

By the way, CC, from which colleges or universities did you gain your diplomas in hypnosis?

I never studied formal clinical psychology and hypnosis at either college or university - like the vast majority of hypnotherapy practitioners.

What colleges or universities studying clinical psychology and hypnosis did those detracting (and laughing) at the idea of Ericksonian Hypnosis attend?

I once read the maintenance manual for the Ford Capri but it doesn't make me a car mechanic. I didn't just read the books on Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP as well as take diplomas with authorised trainers - I made a career out of it.

However, I can't cure my own obsessive/compulsive disorder in defending myself.

Can we call it quits because this thread isn't about me? Sorry if I elongated it with a side topic.
