There was an American/Iranian journalist who was released from the infamous Erin prison some time back upon the personal intervention of American personalities. Why can't the same pressure be put on the Iranian president Moussavi for the release of Myriam and Marzieh and other prisoners from minority groups who are imprisoned because they are not Muslims or are embracing democracy. I am happy to be a Christian that the Lord has saved me by grace, forgiven my sins and made me His child, though unworthy. It pains me to see my brothers and sisters suffering for Christ in other countries where their faith is not respected. I think ultimately we would be better off without any religion at all. But at the same time, I can accept that there may be things I don't understand about the usefulness of religion to other people, and even if they are all bad, they aren't all equally bad. A 16th c. Unitarian minister once said, "We need not think alike to love alike." I think it is a good test statement to distinguish between acceptable religions and unacceptable ones. If in a religion a person can't make the above statement without it being a contradiction of the precepts of the religion, then the religion should be treated as a destructive cult rather than as a religion. Religious faith is fine but unfortunately men or woman who lust for power will use anything that can be used to gain them that power, Religion is prime cover, it makes lust and creed saintly. Invoke God and you are always right. Give them a guilty conscience, play on their fears and passions, give them only one door of Hope , yours. Power is in your hands.
