You forget that 1) immigration reached an unprecedented peak during Macmillan’s tenure of office, of 136,400 in 1961 alone; 2) Harold Macmillan died in 1986, some time after most of the immigration from the ‘New Commonwealth’ had dried up, and was an active member of the House of Lords until shortly before his death; 3) He said nothing of about the scale and nature of immigration being unimaginable; in fact, he seemed very able to imagine it. Anthony Eden died in 1977; though not as active in the Lords, points 2) and 3) still apply.

I am surprised, then, that you have access to the internet, as you seem to be living some time in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Most Muslims in Britain are of Pakistani or Bangladeshi origin and arrived in the UK between the mid-50s and the mid-70s.

Bomb plots and islamic oppression of women is a global problem which should be fought on a global basis – its not a probabam caused by immigration and immigration / repatriation policies would at “best” only move the problem. How petty and small minded to think jihadist violence is something that can be dealt with by immigration controls or reptatriation – how would this prevent islamist bombs in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, the middle east, Turkey, Africa?

For a start birdbrain, the PMs were in office from the early 1940s (when there were 8,000 black British residents) to 1963. Muslims were notable by their absence & most immigrants were Caribbean Christians & assorted refugees from Europe

What is the scale and nature of immigration which is so different to that in the 50s and 60s and what is so problematic about it? Most Muslims – the group which you are clearly concerned with – living in Britain are from the Pakistani or Bangladeshi communities. These communities have been here for decades and decades.
