Obviously some people have a sick sense of humour and need to stop being so bloody stupid - but what is a sick joke about kids as opposed to bombing them, murdering them and starving them to death as New Labour did with sanctions against Iraqi kids, against Iraqi kids since the war began and Israel with children in Gaza.

New Labour = genocidal maniacs who have killed millions more children than any sick joke ever has.

First time I have heard the Daily Mail described as " a Far right clerical fascist website" too!

Come back towards the middle JP! That's taking far-rightism over the horizon!

And as for the young women in question, she’s definately following in the footsteps of Yvonne Ridley.

I see nothing in the article which suggests that Sarah Irving is religious at all. Now where did the other lady who has had herself sterilised go to school? Oh dear, Catholicism didn't do a very good job on here did it?

I'm not talking about moving 'back', or the 'comforts' of the past, but instead about moving forward and the possibilities such a move could bring

You speak of religion in the past tense, Graham, but thats not true. Christianity is particularly flexible and has undergone many changes and adjustments, and it'll continue to do so.

And as for the young women in question, she's definately following in the footsteps of Yvonne Ridley.

I've seen such 'transformations' happen to many a civilisational pathology. A women who had herself sterilised, and who willingly became an evolutionary dead-end to combat overpopulation, will do an about-face and embrace a culture, a green 'BNP', that happens to have the world's highest birthrate.

Out with the hemp-fibre clothing and in with a polyester chador.

If only to better combat global warming!

Imagine, once again, a ‘healthy’, young educated women who is so full of self-hatred and so morally lost and confused she’d go to the extreme measure of sterilising herself in order to ’save’ the planet.

If she thinks that she can save the planet on her own then she truly is lost. However, I think you are approaching the postmodern condition from a Christian standpoint and I doubt very much that the world as it is can be changed by retreating back to the comforts of the past. Indeed, as the Church had such a big part in the construction of modernity such nonsense would in the end be totally self-defeating.

JP. Can I just say that it has cheered me up no end to realise that we are far, far from the day when people such as yourself are “in the middle”.

Praise the Lord!

Graham, western societies have become very polarised. Canada, for instance, hasn't been able to wrangle a majority government in nearly 6 years. An astounding feat when one considers how few minority gov'ts we've had and how short lived any othem ever were.

The lack of a common values and morality and the angst that entails destroys confidence and forces people, thus, to adopt 'safe' entrenched positions from which they refuse to budge.

And as if that wasn't enough, we've foolishly decided to intensify the cacaphony and incoherence by promoting uncontrolled, mass immigration.

But hey! I went to mass on Easter Sunday, so I'm the extremist, right?

Some nutters may support the BNP, but the real nutters are at the top.

It,s a whole civilisational thing.

The BNP is chock full of insalubrious nutcases, yet at the same time statements made by mainstream politicans betray an astounding ignorance of the issues that really concern people.

I strumbled across a british leftwing enviromental activist and freelance journalist who had an article posted at 'islamonline', a Far right clerical fascist website.

She appeared to think her anti-fascist credentials were impeccable.

The women worked with Palestine Solidarity groups as well and was, and I mean this in the most objective and nonjudgemental way, very, VERY ill.

Why?

She felt that having children was bad for the enviroment and so she'd had herself sterilised so as not to have any.

Imagine the degree of self-loathing a young women would have to feel in order to take such extreme measures?

And imagine the degree of blindness that would drive a women to get sterilised for the sake of the enviroment and overpopulation, and to then turn around and promptly advocate for a people and a culture that has one of the highest birthrates on earth!

The women's name is Sarah Irving (if you care to google her) and she is a case study in the current "dazed, lost and confused" mindset one so often encounters.

The crisis facing nearly every western country is a crisis of morality and values or, more precisely, a lack of common shared values and views.

When I look at Britian from this side of the pond, when I observe the implosion of its traditional political parties, and when I ponder the degree of social polarisation and the tendancy towards extremes, I see a crisis of morality and values that has led to the disintegration of the middle ground.

There's Nick Griffin, bonafide nutcase on the Right, and Sarah Irving, bonafide nutcase on the left.

And there's almost no one left in the middle.
