I watched the advert and all it was doing was trying to get money to help people that had been bombed and had been hurt by the conflict. I do not remeber it trying to put any blame on anyone. In fact I don”t even remember there being any mention of Isreal at all.

So please tell me how this is lies? As far as I am concerned it was a humanitarian appeal and nothing more.

I do not ‘consider’ Hamas dodgy, corrupt or authoritarian: it is documented as being corrupt and authoritarian and murderous – and of stealing aid.

In that case is it that you spend an awful lot of time giving aid to development projects on the Isle of Wight, or else that you simply don’t agree with humanitarian aid?

This leaves me thinking that you can’t read.
I never mentioned ‘praise’, conditional or otherwise. I was talking about not publishing demonstrable lies based on racist hatred.
Until you can write without resorting to such lies, you are the last person who should preach to me about objectivity.

If you would only read what I wrote you would see the offensiveness of your comment. Nothing I wrote refers to the final recipients of the money. I simply have a problem in Charities which do not meet their obligation to be “factually accurate and with a legitimate evidence base”. If ‘Help The Aged’ was also infringing this requirement then I think that should be pointed out as well. In slanting their narrative, Charities are doing their beneficiaries no favours at all.

He may have a point there, but then again he has already ruled out War on Want, Christian Aid, Oxfam, Save the Children, Amnesty International and the ICRC on the same basis. dsquared, that’s a category mistake. We are not talking about a specific building Y at location X. We are talking about the global principle. Yes, a particular building Y may be illegal, just as a building anywhere in the world may be illegal if built without planning permission from the local authority. That has no bearing on my argument.

Israel is not a common law country. It encompasses principles of Ottoman statute, British statute and Jewish law. Property law still largely follows the basic principles of Ottoman statute law, with many later modifications.
