SPSC Celebrates Holocaust Memorial Day With Hamas Spokesman

In 2006, Mick Napier’s Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day with a reading of Perdition: a play by a Trotskyite which pushes the thesis that the Holocaust was a joint venture between Zionists and Nazis.

This year, they’re putting on an event with Azzam “Kaboom” Tamimi, a man who is euphemistically referred to as a “Hamas supporter”, but is clearly the terrorist group’s United Kingdom representative.

On the subject of Britain’s favourite walking time bomb, there’s an interesting snippet in this Wall Street Journal article that discusses Israel’s tolerance of Hamas during its early, non-violent days:

In 1967, Nasser suffered a crushing defeat when Israel triumphed in the six-day war. Israel took control of Gaza and also the West Bank.

“We were all stunned,” says Palestinian writer and Hamas supporter Azzam Tamimi. He was at school at the time in Kuwait and says he became close to a classmate named Khaled Mashaal, now Hamas’s Damascus-based political chief. “The Arab defeat provided the Brotherhood with a big opportunity,” says Mr. Tamimi.

Azzam Tamimi has been ‘close’ to the heart of Hamas from its very earliest days, hasn’t he.

Gene adds: Azzam Tamimi invited Sheikh Qaradawi for his last visit to the UK in 2004. Perhaps to mark this occasion, he can read from the moving words of Qaradawi himself.

Oh Allah, take your enemies, the enemies of Islam. Oh Allah, take the Jews, the treacherous aggressors. Oh Allah, take this profligate, cunning, arrogant band of people. Oh Allah, they have spread much tyranny and corruption in the land. Pour Your wrath upon them, oh our God. Lie in wait for them. Oh Allah, You annihilated the people of Thamoud at the hand of a tyrant, and You annihilated the people of ‘Aad with a fierce, icy gale. Oh Allah, You annihilated the people Thamoud at the hand of a tyrant, You annihilated the people of ‘Aad with a fierce, icy gale, and You destroyed the Pharaoh and his soldiers – oh Allah, take this oppressive, tyrannical band of people. Oh Allah, take this oppressive, Jewish, Zionist band of people. Oh Allah, do not spare a single one of them. Oh Allah, count their numbers, and kill them, down to the very last one.

You’d think even some Israel bashers would feel a little sick about this.
