For example its possible to be wary of some of Chavez’s actions, but support some of his reforms; whilst at the same time being suspicious of some of Chavez’s opposition (considering past actions) especially if they are funded by foreign taxpayers (illegal in the US).

In the case of Cuba, one can support reforms but prefer they are devised and carried out by a democratic Cuban government rather than the IMF, US or any other body not accountable to the Cuban people. As for some of the anti-Castro people in Florida, I would run a mile, and they are just as capable as lying profusely as the Cuban regime.

However, the one with a better record is treated like a pariah, while the other is treated quite normally. So, not really that much to do with human rights really. Its ironic really.
