I want to thank everyone who worked so hard in Crewe and Nantwich: the campaign team, party staff, members of the PLP and the EPLP, and the hundreds of party members and trade unionists.

The result, like the local council elections earlier this month, tells us that people are concerned about rising bills and global economic uncertainty. The Tories benefited from these worries about the economy – but they have no answers and cannot say what they stand for.
The Government will do all we can to protect people’s standard of living and to see the economy through this difficult time.
