No peace without justice

“No War against Iraq, Justice for Palestine”. Since when is justice for the Palestinians, and for the Israelis for that matter, to the exclusion of justice for Iraqis?
So to those who say “No War”, I say, of course “yes”, but we can only have “No War” if there is “No Dictatorship” and “No Genocide.”

The Liberal voice of Stop the War?

Notes From the Frontline

I stopped off in Trafalgar Square today, notebook in hand with the brief of filing an impromptu on-the-spot report on the anti-war demonstration for Harry’s Place. Unfortunately having had much better things to do with my weekend I only caught the last two speakers who were being beamed on to a big screen in the [...]

Virtual counter-demonstration

All day Saturday on Harry’s Place we will be hosting a virtual counter demonstration in opposition to the Stop the War Coalition’s march in London.
The number of posts is already well above the ten that are provided for in the ‘Recent Entries’ section so please scroll well down to see the full collection of posters, [...]

COMRADES?

“We appeal to our people, of all political, national and religious affiliations, to unify their efforts and firmly confront those criminal elements who attempt to obstruct the reconstruction of our country and the restoration of its sovereignty and independence, as well as building a free, peaceful and democratic Iraq, where equality and social justice prevail [...]

Chris Harman, Socialist Worker, April 1

Joining the counter-demo

Weblogger Bill Herbert has made his contribution to today’s counter-demonstration with some photographs that I’d like to hand out to those in London today.
Swiss blogger Francois Brutsch, who is based in London but whose Swiss Roll blog is in French has also given his support to the counter-demo.
Update: Jeff Jarvis links to the demo with [...]

Interested in real solidarity ?

Credit to Sky News for giving a voice to British based Iraqis who oppose the Stop the War demonstrators today.
Today’s event has been criticised by some groups, with the Iraqi Prospect Organisation (IPO) launching its Democracy for Iraq campaign in opposition to the march.
Ahmed Shames, chairman of the IPO, said: “These anti-war groups don’t really [...]
